BIKE-A-THON FUNDRAISING

Supporting the Huckleberry House of Columbus in Ohio, USA

Hi, I'm Daniel  Krassenstein, as a board member of the non-profit “The Delivering Better Lives Charitable Foundation”, I am proud to say that our infrastructure projects have had an impact on every continent and in over 30 countries. From building a free medical clinic in Vietnam to housing construction in Egypt to a kitchen renovation at an orphanage in Colombia. We believe that all people deserve the right to food, shelter, education and basic healthcare.

Today, I am coming to you asking for your support.  The Huckleberry House of Columbus, Ohio works with youth and families who are dealing with some of the most difficult problems imaginable – issues like abuse, violence, neglect, poverty and homelessness. Their programs include a 24/7/365 Crisis Shelter (offering a safe/temporary place to stay and a hot meal and warm bed) to counseling to help families address tough issues.

The Huck House’s Hamlet Street campus has a retaining wall at the entrance to the Counseling Center which is aging and falling and in urgent need of repair.  We need to raise $10,000 for this repair.

Speaking of aging, I turned 58 on Oct 17 and to help raise this $10,000, I will ride 1,000 miles on my bike and Peloton (which is the equivalent of riding from Huck House to Disney World) by Dec 31.

Will you join me and Delivering Better Lives to help repair the aging retaining wall?  We can do this....

ABOUT

The Huckleberry House of Columbus

Huckleberry House works with Central Ohio’s youth and families who are dealing with some of the most difficult problems imaginable. Issues like abuse, violence, neglect, poverty, and homelessness. No matter how hopeless the situation may seem, we offer proven programs and committed people who know how to help young people and families take control of their lives. So they can move past the circumstances they’re in, and move toward the future they want.

Huck House Counseling Services specializes in working with young people and their families to identify strengths, develop coping skills, and change negative behaviors. We help family members learn how to talk to each other and work together to make long-term changes that will benefit the entire family.

In 2020, renovations were completed on a fully owned building on the Hamlet Street campus. The Counseling Center provides four individual meeting rooms and a large group session space. The counseling staff uses the work-stations in the Counseling Center for documentation and paperwork. During the pandemic, the spaces have been used as flex space to create distance for youth staying in our Crisis shelter. As our counseling client list grows, we are eager to completely shift and expand our counseling services.

A grant from Delivering Better Lives will allow us to expand our services and will help provide a safe environment for young people.
