ALL EARS CLICKETY CLACK
Community Development Project
All Ears was established in Cambodia to provide free services to all who suffer from hearing issues. DBL assisted All Ears previously by providing the funds to establish a second clinic that services many thousands of rural Cambodians who had previously been denied access to these services. In addition, DBL then worked to assist All Ears to expand services to create a travelling education and clinical service.
This latest project will see DBL support All Ears on another project, titled Clickety Clack. This project focuses on pediatric diagnostics and aural rehabilitation as well as speech and language therapy.

PREK TA NONG PRIMARY SCHOOL #2
Prek Ta Nong, Cambodia
School Construction Project
Prek Ta Nong is in North Eastern Cambodia some 3 hours from Phnom Penh. The Village has some 6,500 people, most of whom lead a basic subsistence lifestyle.
The Primary School has, 1056 students from kindergarten to year 6. Around 100 children do not join school at kindergarten stage as there is no capacity to admit them. The 1056 children are taught in 24 classes by 13 teachers. Most teachers teach 2 classes a day, morning and afternoon.
The school has 3 buildings comprising 15 classrooms, but one building with 5 classrooms has recently been condemned as it is in extremely poor condition. This leaves 2 buildings with ten classrooms to accommodate 24 classes. Due to this, come classes are permanently cancelled and some held outdoors.
DBL will construct a new school building of 5 rooms.

CHE HING SECONDARY SCHOOL
Koh Sotin Province, Cambodia
School Upgrade Project
The Che Hing Secondary School is located in Koh Sotin Province, Kompong Cham in North Eastern Cambodia. The Province is a very poor agricultural area where daily income is below $3.00 a family. Che Hing School has around 1800 students in 32 classes. To cater for these students, morning and afternoon schools are conducted, so students only receive 3 to 4 hours of schooling each.
Compounding the challenges, the school faced was that most rooms had few, if any, desks and chairs, so students were required to sit on the floor. DBL outfitted the classrooms with desks and chairs for all classes.

KOMPONG SEILA PRIMARY SCHOOL
Kompong Seila, Cambodia
School Construction Project
Kompong Seila is a small poor village in Eastern Cambodia on the main highway between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville live subsistence lives or are in the employ of the local government at minimal wages.
The school had 5 rooms to service over 700 children, who as a result of overcrowding attended infrequently or not at all.
In addition to inadequate classrooms, the school had no toilets, no water supply and no housing for Teachers who slept in a Pagoda.
DBL constructed a new 6 room school building, provided housing for three teachers and their families, constructed a well and solar driven pump, constructed a toilet block, repainted and renovated existing buildings, provided English language teaching materials, and computers.

PREK TA NONG VILLAGE AMBULANCE

Community Development Project
Prek Ta Nong had a small clinic that catered for the simple medical needs of the community and was staffed by a single nurse. Complex or serious patients had been transferred to the Regional hospital at Kompong Cham over one hour away.
At the time of this project, there was no vehicle to transfer patients to and from Kompong Cham or for emergency transportation requirements. This means that many patients did not receive the care that they required and, in many circumstances, resulted in death.
To ensure that patient health was not compromised simply due to the lack of transportation, DBL, in partnership with FDGL of Spain, committed to the purchase of a patient transport vehicle.

PREK TA NONG PRIMARY SCHOOL

School Construction Project
Prek Ta Nong is located around two hours from Phnom Penh, near the city of Kompong Cham. The Village has no form of employment and relies on subsistence farming. DBL constructed a pre secondary school in the village around five years ago and was made aware of the needs of the primary school at that time. The school has over 830 students, and runs two sessions, morning and afternoon, with 45-50 students per class. The current school buildings are in appalling condition, with dirt floors, holes in the walls, no doors or windows.
DBL will now complete construction of a new primary school in the village that will improve the educational opportunities of the children.

LET'S READ
Library Construction Project
Prek Tandek Secondary School is located some 100 kilometers from Phnom Penh in rural Cambodia. The school provides education for students from year 7 to year 12 and has 31 classrooms for 1400 students. Students from 5 communes attend the school, which is forced to hold morning and afternoon sessions to accommodate all students.
The area is a poor subsistence farming community with little government support. The desperate need is for a library/multimedia center. Reading is poorly neglected and considered by the teaching fraternity to be the greatest need.
DBL funded the construction of a library to service both the school and the community, a total of over 30,000 people.

PREK TA NONG PRE-SECONDARY SCHOOL

School Construction Project
Prek Ta Nong village has seen an extraordinary growth in population over recent years, that has placed the education system under strain. In early 2009 there were around 300 students ready to commence schooling with no places available in the local schools.
DBL undertook a project to increase the capacity of the school, improve the existing building conditions and provide more general educational facilities. This included the construction of a 6 room school building, renovation of an existing 5 room building, new desks and chairs for all rooms, a new fence around the school for security purposes, raising the level of the school ground by one meter to reduce the incidence of flooding from the Mekong River, wiring of one building to allow computers to be installed, and construction of a Basketball /Volleyball Court.

ALL EARS EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
Community Development Project
All Ears was established in Cambodia to provide free services to all who suffer from hearing issues. DBL assisted All Ears previously by providing the funds to establish a second clinic that services many thousands of rural Cambodians who had previously been denied access to these services.
This proposal was to expand services to create a travelling education and clinical service. The program visits villages across Cambodia teaching about hearing health and in parallel operating a children's clinic.
The program is called LISTEN OUT LOUD and is run by Glyn Vaughan an English audiologist who speaks fluent Cambodian. The program aims to provide education of an issue, which affects a very high proportion of young children in Cambodia, this problem leads to loss of hearing in adult years.

PREK TA NONG MEDICAL CLINIC EXTENSION

Medical Clinic Project
Prek Ta Nong is a small and very isolated village in North Eastern Cambodia. It is accessed from the main Phnom Penh – Seam Reap Highway, but then requires river crossings and many kilometers on dirt roads, which are often impassable in the wet season.
DBL has undertaken a number of projects in the village, including the provision of an ambulance to the village’s clinic, in partnership with FDGL Foundation of Spain. The clinic was very small and totally inadequate for the people in the community, and offered no maternity services. FDGL and DBL in partnership extended the medical clinic to include added maternity services and toilet/wash facilities that they did not have.

ALL EARS
Health Care Project
All Ears (AE) was established as an NGO in Cambodia over 20 years ago and is run today by the founder Glyn Vaughan. All Ears as the name suggests focuses totally on addressing hearing and associated problems with Cambodian people, people are treated regardless of financial resources, including the provision of hearing aids. Based on the caseload from 3 branches in 2017 where over 25,000 people were seen and treated the number in coming years will be in the hundreds of thousands.
All Ears has 13 full time employees and trains over 15 technicians per year for work in the community. The majority of their work is undertaken by volunteers, and financially they survive on donations.
AE wished to expand their work to meet demand and wanted to improve technical capabilities. DBL supported them by acquiring a sound booth, Tympanometer and a
a rigid endoscope.
